why work@seriousbusiness[.com] ?

Let's be serious for a moment. Why is Serious Business an awesome place to work?

We are building out a world class engineering team that is going to take Ruby and Rails where it hasn't gone before. We are already one of the world's largest Rails deployments and with your help we intend to make it the largest.

Of course, the usual bullet points:

  • 30 inch monitors (because we love pixels)
  • Aeron chairs (used from Craigslist, but hey)
  • MacBook Pros (standard)
  • Full health, vision, dental
  • Commuter passes
  • Awesome location in the heart of SOMA

Sounds good? Here's what we're looking for today:

ruby engineers (rails optional)

We're looking for engineers to work on infrastructure and product. If you dream in lambda calculus and have Ruby meta-programming idioms down cold, then email us. Big bonus if you have opinions about graphic or game design.

software engineers (infrastructure)

We're looking for infrastructure software engineers. If processing massive amounts of data in parallel, asking interesting questions about the data, and answering the questions in real time sounds like an interesting problem to you, then let's talk.

scalability engineers

We're looking for engineers to build out our scalable infrastructure. If MySQL clustering, distributed storage, memcached, capacity planning, sharding/federation, and operations automation is your area of expertise, then drop us a line.

systems administrator

We're looking for a sysadmin/net ops rockstar who has a proven experience with highly scalable web architectures, MySQL tuning and configuration, operations automation and monitoring, and a comprehensive understanding of network security.  Ruby experience is nice, and someone with a software engineering background who can help to develop middleware to help build an abstraction layer between the infrastructure and the software is part of a long term goal.
